Our bungalow is dedicated to the loving memory of
David “Slick” Aaron
August 16, 1928 – Feb 22, 2020
He lived a remarkable life dedicated to his family and with a passion for the sea.
Slick was many things:
•Surfer – member of the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame
•Sailor – built and sailed his own 46’ sailboat throughout the Bahamas
•Cowboy of the Sea – a select few lifeguards have earned this distinction for saving lives
•Businessman – owned the largest pool company in Florida
•Co-Chairman for the World Conference of the Underwater Society of America
•Model & Actor – was selected as the original Marlboro Man
•Bit of a rebel – only a few people know the real story of how the Jesus statue got in the water at John Pennekamp State Park!
•Athlete - an early pioneer of body building
•Friend to so many
•A man of Integrity, Honor and Impeccable Values… but he could tell a story!
•Loved Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather
•Husband to Barbara for 72 years
•Activist -- When you walk out on the beach, thank Slick… he and a couple of his friends fought Palm Beach socialites all the way to the Florida Supreme Court to keep our beaches public when they tried to deny locals access to the Palm Beach beaches.
Slick met with surfing legend Greg Noll at Surf Expo 2019
Credited with bringing the first surf boards to Florida, Slick was inducted into the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame in 1998
Scotty & Chummer McCranels along with Fred Solomon presented Slick with a photo of him announcing at a surf competition in Cocoa Beach in the 60's.
